There are four very beautiful castles separated from each other by only a few kilometers. Visible from far away, the Fortress stands proudly high above Coburg. The medieval complex is one of the largest and best preserved castles in Germany. Ehrenburg Castle in Coburg's town centre is considered to be the stage of German high nobility. The dukes resided there for almost four centuries. In Callenberg Castel, you can experience first hand how the dukes of the 19th century lived. The castle is privately owned by Prince Andreas of Saxony-Coburg and Gotha. The British Queen Victoria, who was married to Coburg's Prince Albert, once said the following about Rosenau Castel: "If I were not who I am, I would have my real home here."
